Google Product Studio AI Tools

I led design for a new standalone web experience for Google Product Studio, our generative AI toolkit for brands.

The problem

Our team needed a fast and scalable way to experiment with new AI-powered creative generation features for brands selling on Google. The existing Product Studio experience was tied to Google Merchant Center, limiting reach and speed of iteration. We wanted to quickly test new concepts, validate user interest, and showcase best-in-class AI-generated content to inspire merchants.

The solution

I led the design of a new standalone web experience for Product Studio. This platform allowed us to rapidly deploy and test new features outside of the Merchant Center, while giving users a hands-on way to explore creative AI tools. I pitched and owned key feature concepts, including:

  • Brand personalization with style guides

  • Campaign creation vs single-asset workflows for bulk generation

  • A community-inspired gallery feed highlighting best prompts and outputs

Brainstorm

The project originated from my internal pitch for the future of Product Studio. I saw an opportunity to increase adoption by reaching users beyond existing Merchant Center accounts and giving them early access to experimental tools. This platform also became a proving ground for us to pilot future roadmap features, gather real user feedback, and drive adoption of generative AI for e-commerce creatives.

Mockups

I created multiple design iterations, focusing on ease of use, visual inspiration, and rapid content generation flows. I worked closely with engineering and research partners, testing prototypes with both internal Googlers and external pilot users. After refining flows and interaction patterns based on feedback, I delivered final, production-ready mockups for development.

The results

The new UI and feature set received positive feedback from both internal teams and external pilot merchants. Users cited the experience as approachable, fast, and inspiring for creative production. The project also successfully drove incremental traffic back to Google Merchant Center, helping to increase overall merchant engagement and adoption of Product Studio’s AI tools.
